So, another new year has crept up upon us, and if you're anything like me, you're panicking about making new year's resolutions. As you hadn't planned them before hand, now it's suddenly new year's day and you totally shouldn't have had that bacon sandwich for breakfast because you were going to eat healthy this year! Am I right?
Well, to me a new year is all about 1st's. Starting something new on January 1st feels clean, and fresh, like writing on the pages of a new journal or moving into a new apartment. It's a beautiful feeling. So why waste the other eleven 1st's throughout the year?
If you haven't thought too much about your resolutions for 2013 yet, then let it be this:
DON'T MAKE ANY.
Make some for January, instead.
By setting a new resolution every 1st of the month, you're keeping your goals for this year active and present in your mind, rather than having forgotten you even made them in the first place by mid March. Hopefully, you'll love these 'new you's' each month enough to carry on the good habit that you have made for the rest of the year!
My resolution for January is to Be More Productive.
I am going to take full advantage of my brand new, clean paged 2013 diary and make plans. Lots of plans! I'm going to structure my hours so that I make the most of this fresh start. I'm going nestle in time for myself alongside my work/study/blogging/exercise/life jumble, and make sure I don't fall behind with anything.
So what will you do with your fresh start this year? Will you take more exercise, focus on your studies, let go of a lost love or create a financial budget and stick to it? Pick something to work on for this month and let it own you. Let it be your only focus, and please, let me know how you do!
I shall certainly be letting you all know how I get along, and chat about my resolution for February 1st later this month!
